China is a country with a huge population which has limited land resources. Statistically China has only 7% of its land occupied while making up a staggering 22% of the world's population. In fact, the average person's plantation is only 1.3 acres, that is, ? of the world average. Every year, China is using over 600 billion clay baked construction bricks. The clay brick production process produces vast amounts of air pollution which is detrimental to the countries environment and also adds to the Greenhouse Effect and global warming. Besides, it is destroying over 70,000 acres of farmland, consumes over 64 million tons of coal which in turn is endangering our future living resources.
According to the State Council's official policy paper (reference, National Policy No. [1992]66 and National Office Policy No. [1999]72 ), it is clearly stated that all the departments should hurry their process into researching the new bricks that will have better quality and energy saving. More and more cities are now following the trend to ban the use of clay baked block. Therefore, the end for the clay-brick age is imminent.
There is no easy answer for this problem. The building industry is trying very hard to find a substitute for clay bricks which can be compared in terms of quality, characteristics and price. Honcha, accumulates through its 20 years experience, has now successfully developed a series of masonry perforated bricks, which promotes a clean pollution free industry. For example, it successfully released 240 × 115 ×90 concrete perforated block series (Patent number: ZL 02 3 00776.1), the properties as follows:
Hollow rate is between 34 ~50%;
Recycling waste residue raw material content could be up to 90%;
T he maximum strength is MU10;
The range of compression weight is between 800 ~ 1500 kg/m 3 . For the whole concrete perforated bricks, after rendering with the mortar, the shear strength and heat resistance will be greatly improved. Even for the concrete perforated block with thin cellular (i.e. Type 240) rows, its heat resistance can still reaches up to 0.67R 0 ; It also has the advantage of fitting the underlying cables and switches, the process only reduce the vector strength by 1/6; Therefore, the decoration style can be tidy and elegant. Furthermore, the concrete perforated brick can use the recycle waste as their raw material, it will then reduce the cost when compared with tradition clay baked brick.
